White Macaubas Quartzite processing techniques
The White Macaubas is a quartzite mined in Diamantina, MG, Brazil; predominantly white to slightly cream-colored, with light gray streaks, designed in curved shapes, giving smoothness to its exotic rock characteristics. It has medium to fine grain. This rock can be used in a wide variety of applications, such as gourmet islands, countertops, panels, indoor and outdoor flooring, stairs, bathrooms, and tables, among other uses, being a very versatile material that adapts well to any project. It is composed of 99% quartz and 1% Sericite and opaque minerals. Its grain size ranges from 0.2 to 2.2 mm, which provides low porosity, facilitating specification in all environments.

Processing Data
The choice of input materials for manufacturing this product directly affects its production cost and the final quality of the manufactured part. Assuming the equipment used is in good condition, the cooling system water is clean, and there is no solid waste circulating through it, the following are recommendations for the input materials required for successful processing:
Cutting Method: To ensure the quality of cuts and grinding, we recommend discs, hole saws, and diamond grinding wheels made of soft metal alloy. In Brazil, we recommend Performance Modelo tools. PS32M or Pyramid model PR 30.
Sealing at cutting areas: When the cuts are made, the sides are left unprotected, requiring waterproofing before finishing. For this process to be fully effective, the area must be clean (use 70% alcohol) and completely dry (dry with a heat gun or flamethrower). Then, using a brush, apply a layer of waterproofing over the entire length of the cut. It is important to follow the manufacturer's usage recommendations before beginning the gluing and/or finishing process.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR THE INSTALLER
Installation of vertical panels: For installing vertical panels, bench wheels and footrests, we recommend using Polyurethane glue – PU 40.
Important ensure the wall surface is level and free of dust and other dirt. After applying PU 40 and installing the piece on the wall, we recommend waiting the manufacturer's suggested curing time before releasing the area for use.
Suggestions of some PU brands: AK 100 hybrid glue, from AKEMI / TK PU40 white, from AKEMI / PU 40 multi gray, from the manufacturer Barone / or PU 40, from Tekbond
Floor installation: For indoor and outdoor flooring, use a mortar with strong chemical adhesion and flexible properties.
For grouting, we recommend a waterproof and flexible product.
Recommendation for laying: Quartzo D mortar, by AKEMI / Flexible white ACIII cement mortar, by Quartzolit / or Votoran white ACIII internal/external Votomassa mortar.
For Grout: Premium Super flexible polymer, from AKEMI or Quartzolit epoxy grout.
Post-installation cleaning and protection: All post-construction cleaning must be carried out using water and neutral detergent to remove residue; NOT the use of acidic detergents, acetone or any polymerase is permitted. These types of products damage the waterproofing protection applied to the parts.
Recommendation: Quartzolit post-construction cleaner / Post-construction floor cleaner detergent, by Bellinzonni / PCS Alcalino, by Piso Clean / or Basic Cleaner detergent, by AKEMI
Post-installation protection: After cleaning, we recommend drying the entire area and applying a waterproofing layer to all surfaces, including the bonding edges and grout lines. This protects the material from any type of infiltration that may occur during daily use.

Care and maintenance guidelines for users over time:
- Reapply waterproofing every 12 months. These products are volatile and gradually evaporate.
Recommended products: Rock Protect (Chemistone) / Idea Gold (Bellinzoni) / Nano Effect (AKEMI)
How to apply: Wash the surface thoroughly with water and neutral detergent, then dry with a towel. Spray 70% alcohol over the area and let it evaporate for 30 minutes. Finish drying with a hairdryer. Once the surface is clean and dry, spray the waterproofing product (using a regular spray bottle) evenly over the surface and spread it with a white cloth (to prevent color transfer). Let the product penetrate the stone pores for 12 hours. After that, your countertop or table is ready for use. These products are non-toxic.
This procedure ensures protection for your product and safety for your family.
- Surface protection guidelines:
- Do not use abrasive cleaners, as they can scratch the surface. Use a cloth or sponge with neutral soap.
- Do not cut directly on the surface, always use cutting boards.
- Do not place hot objects, such as pans, directly on the countertop. Natural stones are treated with resin, a polymer that can change color when exposed to intense heat, causing stains. Use wooden, rubber, plastic, or fabric trivets.
- Don't drag utensils across the surface. They may have grooves, imperfections that can scratch your countertop.
- Although the stone is dense, low-porosity, and protected by resin and waterproofing, it can absorb small amounts of liquids if left for long periods. Acidic and alkaline substances such as vinegar, lemon, coffee, wine, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, soft drinks, beetroot, and oils can cause stains if not removed promptly.
- Avoid impacts, excessive weight, or shocks on your stone. Despite its apparent robustness, natural stone has low cohesion between minerals and may develop cracks or fissures under physical stress or vibration. Do not use pestles directly on the surface unless protected by an impact absorber.
