Da Vinci Quartzite processing techniques
The Da Vinci Quartzite, coming from quarries in Bahia (Brazil), is a metamorphic rock of great aesthetic and technical value. It presents predominantly light gray background with striking veins in black, white and dark gray tones, forming an elegant and sophisticated pattern, highly sought after in the national and international market.

- Feldspato: 5–8%
- Accessory minerals (micas, iron oxides, tourmaline, garnet): up to 10%
Properties
- Hardness: 7– 8 Mohs → extremamente resistente a riscos.
- •Water absorption 0.2% – 0.4% → low.
- Compressive strength: 180–220 MPa.
- Chemical resistance: high, not attacked by household acids.
It is considered a quartzite of very high standard, comparable to materials such as Taj Mahal and Perla Venata, but with its own identity due to its vein movement.

Recommended Finishes

Processing and Cutting
- Because it is a quartzite of high hardness, requires diamond discs specifically for quartzites (e.g.: Diapar DP-Quartz or equivalent).
- Some areas with a concentration of accessory minerals may need to be reinforced with epoxy resin before polishing.
- It accepts special cuts and frames well, but requires high-performance equipment.
Sealing
Even with low porosity, preventive waterproofing is recommended on countertops and areas of high use.

Procedure:
- Apply to a clean, dry surface with a brush or roller.
- Waterproof edges and cuts before installation.
- •Reapply every 2–3 years in high-use areas.
Adhesive Bonding
- Use high-adhesion epoxy/polyester glues exclusive for quartzites (Tenax Fix Top, Bellinzoni Blitz Mastique, Argacon Marmofix).
- Pigment glues in light or beige/gold tones depending on the batch.
INSTALLATION
- Countertops: support every 60 cm on metal corners, gluing with white PU40.
- Indoor/Outdoor Floors: white ACIII adhesive mortar.
- Flexible grout and final application of water repellent after the mortar has cured.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
- Routine: damp cloth and neutral detergent.
- Avoid: abrasive products, chlorine, muriatic acid or caustic soda.
- Post-construction: Quartzolit Post-Construction, PCS Alkaline – Clean Floor, Bellinzoni floor cleaning detergent.
