Savage Quartzite Processing Techniques
The Savage is a natural stone with a distinctive green coloration, ranging from lighter to darker shades and creating a striking and sophisticated visual pattern. It features medium to coarse grain and a heterogeneous texture, with a mineral appearance that enhances its natural beauty.
Composed of approximately 90% quartz, along with traces of fuchsite, chlorite, and opaque minerals, the material displays shades ranging from bluish-green to grayish-green. These characteristics also contribute to its excellent performance in everyday use, including good resistance to staining.
It is a versatile material suitable for applications such as countertops, kitchen islands, wall panels, flooring, staircases, bathrooms, and tables, adapting easily to a wide variety of architectural concepts.
USEFUL INFORMATION FOR INSTALLERS
Installation of pieces on vertical panels: For the installation of vertical panels, countertop backsplashes, and baseboards, we recommend using PU 40 polyurethane adhesive. The wall surface must be properly leveled and free of dust and other contaminants. After applying the PU 40 adhesive and installing the pieces, we recommend allowing the curing time specified by the manufacturer before releasing the area for use.
Recommended adhesives: AK 100 Hybrid Adhesive by AKEMI / TK PU 40 White by AKEMI / PU 40 Multi Gray by Barone / or PU 40 by Tekbond.
Floor installation: For the installation of interior and exterior flooring, we recommend using mortar with high chemical adhesion and flexible properties. For grout joints, we recommend using a waterproof and flexible product.
Recommended for installation: Quartz D Mortar (AKEMI) / ACIII White Flexible Cement Mortar (Quartzolit) / Votomassa Internal/External ACIII White Mortar (Votoran)
Recommended for grouting: Premium Super Polymer Flexible Grout (AKEMI) / Epoxy Grout (Quartzolit)
Post-construction cleaning and protection: All post-construction cleaning should be carried out using water and neutral detergent to remove residues. The use of acidic detergents is not permitted, as this type of cleaning product may damage the waterproofing protection applied to the stone.
Recommended cleaners: Post-construction Cleaner (Quartzolit) / Floor Cleaner (Bellinzoni) / PCS Alkaline (Piso Clean) / Basic Cleaner (AKEMI)
Post-construction protection: After post-construction cleaning, we recommend allowing the entire area to dry completely and then applying a waterproofing treatment to all surfaces, including bonded edges and joints. This helps protect the material against any type of moisture infiltration that may occur during everyday use.
Recommended waterproofing products: Rock Protect by Chemistone / Idea Gold by Bellinzoni / or Nano Effect by AKEMI.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR END USERS (Attention: Family Members and Household Staff)
Care and maintenance guidelines for users over time:
- Reapply waterproofing every 12 months. These products are volatile and gradually evaporate over time, so periodic reapplication is necessary.
Recommended products: Rock Protect (Chemistone) / Idea Gold (Bellinzoni) / Nano Effect (AKEMI)
How to apply: Wash the surface thoroughly with water and neutral detergent, then dry with a towel. Spray 70% alcohol over the area and let it evaporate for 30 minutes. Finish drying with a hairdryer. Once the surface is clean and dry, spray the waterproofing product (using a regular spray bottle) evenly over the surface and spread it with a white cloth (to prevent color transfer). Let the product penetrate the stone pores for 12 hours. After that, your countertop or table is ready for use. These products are non-toxic.
This procedure ensures protection for your product and safety for your family.
- Surface protection guidelines:
- Do not use abrasive cleaners, as they can scratch the surface. Use a cloth or sponge with neutral soap.
- Do not cut food directly on the surface. Always use cutting boards.
- Do not place hot objects, such as pans, directly on the countertop. Natural stones are treated with resin, a polymer that can change color when exposed to intense heat, causing stains. Use wooden, rubber, plastic, or fabric trivets.
- Do not drag utensils across the surface. Small imperfections can cause scratches.
- Although the stone is dense, low-porosity, and protected by resin and waterproofing, it can absorb small amounts of liquids if left for long periods. Acidic and alkaline substances such as vinegar, lemon, coffee, wine, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, soft drinks, beetroot, and oils can cause stains if not removed promptly.
- Avoid impacts, excessive weight, or shocks on your stone. Despite its apparent robustness, natural stone has low cohesion between minerals and may develop cracks or fissures under physical stress or vibration. Do not use pestles directly on the surface unless protected by an impact absorber.
WITH THE RIGHT CARE, YOUR NATURAL STONE WILL LAST FOR GENERATIONS, PRESERVING THE SAME BEAUTY AND ELEGANCE AS THE DAY IT WAS INSTALLED.
