Beneficiation Techniques for Crystal Del Mare Quartzite
Crystal Del Mare is a medium gray quartzite with a slight greenish hue, featuring a massive and compact structure, with fine to medium grain size and moderate mineral orientation. The stone is essentially composed of quartz crystals, with intergranular spaces filled by sericitic and carbonatic matrix, which gives it good internal cohesion and a homogeneous appearance.
Laboratory tests indicate a high-density stone (2.67 Kg/m³), low porosity (0.92%) and low water absorption (0.34%), as well as high uniaxial compressive strength (159.72 MPa) and good performance in freeze-thaw cycles (150.14 MPa). These characteristics reinforce its suitability for use in both interior and exterior areas, provided that good installation practices are followed.
Visually, Crystal Del Mare presents a smooth and sophisticated movement, with subtle variations of gray and greenish nuances, which makes it suitable for gourmet islands, kitchen countertops, wall panels and cladding, indoor and outdoor flooring, stairs, bathrooms and tables, among other applications with high aesthetic standards.
USEFUL INFORMATION FOR INSTALLERS
Installation of pieces on vertical panels
For the installation of vertical panels, backsplashes and baseboards in Crystal Del Mare, we recommend the use of polyurethane-based adhesives (PU 40) or high-performance hybrid adhesives, always with the substrate surface clean, dry, level and free from dust or release agents.
After applying the adhesive and fixing the pieces, strictly observe the curing time indicated by the manufacturer before releasing the area for use.
Suggested adhesives (examples compatible with quartzites):
- Hybrid adhesive AK 100 – AKEMI
- TK PU 40 white – AKEMI
- PU 40 Multi gray – Barone
- PU 40 – Tekbond
Floor installation
For interior and exterior floors in Crystal Del Mare, use a high-adhesion, flexible tile adhesive (minimum ACIII white), suitable for natural stone.
For grouting, prioritize waterproof and flexible products that can accommodate the natural movement of the substrate and the stone.

Post-installation cleaning and protection
Post-installation cleaning of Crystal Del Mare should be done with water and neutral detergent, only to remove construction residues (mortar, dust, surface dirt).
Do not use acidic detergents or aggressive products, as they may damage the resin protection and the applied sealer.

After cleaning and complete drying of the surface, it is recommended to apply a sealer on all exposed faces (main surface, edges and joints), to protect against infiltration and staining.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR THE END USER
Reapplication of sealer
Sealers are volatile products and lose efficiency over time. Reapplication is recommended every 12 months, always following the manufacturer’s instructions.
Example of reapplication procedure:
- Wash the surface thoroughly with water and neutral detergent.
- Dry with a clean cloth or towel.
- Spray 70% alcohol over the entire area and allow it to evaporate for about 30 minutes.
- Finish drying with a hair dryer, if necessary.
- With the surface completely dry, spray the sealer (Rock Protect, Idea Gold or Nano Effect) and spread it with a white cloth.
- Wait 12 hours before normal use of the countertop, floor or table.
The recommended sealers are not toxic when used correctly and provide greater protection to Crystal Del Mare, ensuring safety for the whole family.
Surface protection against damage
- Do not use abrasive products (powdered scouring agents, sandpaper, very aggressive sponges).
- Do not cut food directly on the stone – always use cutting boards.
- Do not place pans or very hot objects directly on the surface. Use wooden, silicone, rubber or fabric trivets. Direct exposure to intense heat may alter the surface resin, causing stains.
- Avoid dragging utensils, appliances or heavy objects over the countertop or floor.
- In case of spills of liquids such as vinegar, lemon, coffee, wine, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, soft drinks, beetroot, oils etc., remove them as soon as possible, avoiding prolonged contact with the stone.
- Avoid blows, impacts and localized shock (such as using pestles directly on the surface), as any natural stone may crack or fissure under concentrated impact.
With proper installation, cleaning, maintenance and protection, Crystal Del Mare Quartzite will preserve its beauty and performance for many years, enhancing the environment and ensuring long-lasting durability for the project.
