Paramount Quartzite Beneficiation Techniques
The Paramount Quartzite is a exotic metamorphic quartzite, with a generally gray background light and linear and wavy veins in shades of gold, brown, gray and rust, creating a sophisticated effect that is highly valued in the international market. It is considered a premium material, comparable to quartzites such as Perla Venata and Taj Mahal, but with its own identity due to its remarkable movement.
Average Mineralogical Composition
- Quartz: 80–90%
- Feldspar: 5–10%
- Accessory minerals (micas, iron oxides, tourmaline, garnet): up to 10%
Properties
- Hardness: 7–7.5 Mohs → extremely scratch resistant.
- Water absorption: 0.2% – 0.4% → low.
- Compressive strength: 180–220 MPa.
- Chemical resistance: high, not attacked by household acids.
Paramount combines high-standard durability and aesthetics, being ideal for luxury and heavy-use environments.
INFORMATION TO THE MANUFACTURER (Marbler)
Recommended finishes
- Polish: highlights the shine of the golden veins and the contrast of the light background.
- Brushed (Leather): satin finish, widely used in kitchens and gourmet areas.
- Levigated: elegant matte, excellent for modern interior floors.
- Flamed + Brushed: ideal for outdoor floors and non-slip areas.
Processing and Cutting
- Because it is a high-hardness quartzite, it requires high-performance diamond tools (e.g.: Diapar DP-Quartz discs or similar).
- The movement of the veins can create areas of greater weakness → it is recommended to reinforce sheets with epoxy resin before polishing.
- Accepts straight cuts and special moldings without additional technical difficulty.
Waterproofing
Despite low absorption, preventive waterproofing is recommended on countertops and high-use areas.
Recommended products:
- Brazil: Rock Protect – Chemistone / Nano Effect – AKEMI / Idea Gold – Bellinzoni
- Abroad: Proseal – Tenax / Stain Proof – Dry Treat / Idea Gold – Bellinzoni
Procedure:
- Apply to a clean, dry surface with a brush or roller.
- Waterproof edges and cuts before installation.
- Reapply every 2–3 years in high-use areas.
Gluing the Parts
- Use high-adhesion epoxy/polyester glues (Tenax Fix Top, Bellinzoni Blitz Mastique, Argacon Marmofix).
- Pigment glues in light or beige/gold tones depending on the batch.
Settlement
- Benches: support every 60 cm on metal corners, gluing with white PU40.
- Indoor/outdoor floors: white ACIII adhesive mortar.
- Flexible grout and final application of water repellent after the mortar has cured.
Cleaning and Maintenance
- Routine: damp cloth + neutral detergent.
- Avoid: abrasive products and strong acids (muriatic acid, caustic soda).
- Post-construction: use suitable cleaners → Quartzolit Post-Work, PCS Alkaline (Clean Floor), Bellinzoni floor cleaning detergent.
Final Considerations
The Paramount Quartzite is one of the most valued materials in the ornamental rock market, combining very high technical resistance with sophisticated and exclusive aesthetics. It is recommended for countertops, facades, floors and high-traffic areas, ensuring beauty and durability even under intense conditions of use.
